KinderSkiff History

The KinderSkiff, traditionally held on the Saturday before the SilverSkiff, is a regatta that initially attracted mainly children and young people from local rowing clubs—a sort of training ground for the SilverSkiff and a festive day. Over the years, the close connection between the celebration and the competition has increased the number of participants, who now also come from abroad.

In two different course lengths, depending on their category, young athletes compete in single sculls and eagerly await what has become the most anticipated event: the awards ceremony. It’s a true rowing festival, featuring encounters with the champions who will row the next day, the distribution of many gadgets, rowing history quizzes, and of course, the awards.

It’s an extraordinary occasion for both sports and play.

From the first edition in 1999, the event has grown to nearly four hundred participants today.
